December 22: Manger

Luke 2.1 – 20

A manger is a trough used to feed livestock. Mary and Joseph created a crib for Jesus out of a manger and in so doing they prepared a place for hope and love to rest.

“Fling wide the portals of your heart; make it a temple, set apart from earthly use for heaven’s employ, adorned with prayer and love and joy,”

Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates, was written by Georg Weissel in 1642, and translated by Catherine Winkworth.
